Kolin Kotiseutumuseo - Koli Heritage Museum
Kolin kotiseutuyhdistys ry. avasi museon Kolin Ryynäsen pihapiirissä olevassa hirsirakennuksessa kesäkuussa 2000. Kolin Ryynäsen miljöön omisti valtio ja sitä hallinnoi Metsähallitus.
Tammikuussa 2025 Kolin Kotiseutumuseo avautui uusissa tiloissa tien toisella puolella Kolin Kulmakiven kiinteistössä.
Museossa on Ari Koistisen muistohuone kokoelmineen ja tunnelmaa öljylamppujen aikakaudelta.
Einar A. Saarelaisen vanhoja valokuvia on esillä valokuvasuurennoksina ja digitaalisessa muodossa tietokoneella. Valokuviin liittyvä maisemien ja henkilöiden tunnistustyö jatkuu yhä museovieraiden ja muiden yksityishenkilöiden avulla.
Valokuvakokoelmasta on mahdollista ostaa kopioita sekä yksityiseen että kaupalliseen käyttöön. Kolin kotiseutuyhdistyksellä on halussaan kaikki omistusoikeudet museossa esillä oleviin esineisiin ja valokuviin.
Museo on avoinna yleisölle ympäri vuoden. Museon näyttelyt ovat vaihtuvia ja koostuvat eri teemoista.
Koli Heritage Museum
The Koli Heritage Museum presents the history of Koli through stories, photographs and historical artefacts. The Museum's exhibitions explore tourism in Koli, the lives of Ari Koistinen and the village photographer Einar A. Saarelainen and historical residences in Koli.
Ari Koistinen, Father of the Museum
The articles exhibited at Koli Heritage Museum consist mainly of the heritage collection of Koli-born Ari Kalevi Koistinen (26.9.1917–15.9.1993). Ari Koistinen, the hermit of Sutkanvaara, was passionate about collecting old household goods, tools and coins which were donated to him by people from Koli and its surroundings. Ari was also know as a skilled wood craftsman.
After his death in 1993, a need arose for establishing the Koli Heritage Association and Koli Heritage Museum, in which the extensive collection of artifacts would be stored and placed on display. In 2000 Koli Heritage Museum was opened for the public on the grounds of Kolin Ryynänen.
Photographer Einar A. Saarelainen
One of the permanent exhibitions in the Koli Heritage Museum is the collection of photographs taken by Einar A. Saarelainen who was the village photographer of Koli in the 1930s. The pictures taken by Einar A. Saarelainen (21.7.1896–30.7.1966) give us a strong and vivid impression of the Koli area and its people in the early twentieth century. The photographs are diverse and through them one can see the everyday lives of people in the area as well as follow the progress of noteworthy construction work such as the construction of the road between Koli and Ahmovaara.
During his lifetime Einar A. Saarelainen photographed over 5,000 black-and-white glass negatives of which only approximately 1,400 still exist. The remaining negatives are currently stored in the archives of the Koli Heritage Association.

The Koli Heritage Museum is open for visitors year round. You can also visit the Museum and the rich heritage of Koli virtually with the eMuseo mobile app. The Application has virtual exhibitions, quizzes and heritage routes to explore and it can also be used as a companion while visiting the museum.

Koli Heritage Museum is open when cafe Sipanniekku is open. In January 2025 the opening hours are: from Thursday to Saturday from 11 to 17, on Sunday from 12 to 16, closed from Monday to Wednesday.
